Recent parliamentary answers
Q S3W-17408
Brian Adam: To ask the Scottish Executive what advice it has offered
businesses to combat metal thefts. (SP 3/11/08)
A Kenny MacAskill
(11/1108): No such advice has been provided. It is primarily for the police
to advise on measures to prevent all aspects of
crime, including metal thefts. (SP 11/11/08)
Q S3W-16635
- Alison McInnes (30/09/08): To ask the Scottish Executive whether a
correlation exists between the projects listed in National Planning
Framework for Scotland 2 SEA: Supplementary
Assessment of the Environmental Effects of Candidate National Developments
Environmental Report Annex 2 - Consultation Paper and projects being
considered in the strategic transport projects review.
A Stewart Stevenson (27/10/08): Yes. The on-going Strategic
Environmental Assessment of the National Planning Framework is being
undertaken to ensure that the likely significant impacts of projects which
stakeholders have proposed as national developments are taken into account
in decisions on the Proposed National Planning Framework, in compliance
with the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The
Strategic Transport Projects Review is being undertaken to identify
priorities for Government spending on transport infrastructure from 2012.
While these two exercises serve different purposes, there is a clear
overlap with regard to transport related infrastructure projects. The teams
of officials involved in the preparation of the National Planning Framework
and the Strategic Transport Projects Review are liaising closely to ensure
that they are working to a common strategic agenda.

Motions
*S3M-2864
Sarah Boyack: Energy Efficiency-That the
Parliament recognises the significant role that
energy efficiency and microgeneration measures
could have in reducing energy costs for householders and businesses, in
achieving urgent reductions in greenhouse gas emissions of at least 80% by
2050 and contributing to the eradication of fuel poverty by 2016; notes
that research carried out by the Energy Savings Trust suggests that
widespread installation of microgeneration could
provide 30 to 40% of our electricity needs by 2050 but that current
investment in energy efficiency and microgeneration
measures is insufficient to achieve these goals, and calls on the Scottish
Government to take steps, as set out in the Energy Efficiency and Microgeneration Bill proposals, such as fiscal
incentives for householders and businesses, to improve the energy
efficiency of new and existing housing stock and ensure that microgeneration technologies become widely available
and used. (SP 12/11/08)
