Join us!

BEFS is a membership forum - there are three levels of membership:

Member: is open to bodies that meet all of the following criteria:

§ recognition by the majority of existing BEFS Members as non-governmental organisations or recognised professional bodies;

§ are Scottish organisations or have a significant separate Scottish identity;

§ aims and objectives are compatible with the BEFS objectives.

Subscriber:  is for those organisations not eligible for full Membership, but that wish to be kept informed of BEFS activities.

Supporter:  for individuals that wish to be kept informed of BEFS activities.

To apply

We welcome applications from eligible organisations. To apply please complete the application form (word) (pdf) sign and submit, with a copy of your constitution, to the BEFS office. The Board will then review your application and can admit your organisation to the forum as a Subscriber, until the time of the next quarterly General Meeting of members when the membership will consider your application, based on a Board recommendation. Membership applications must be approved by 2/3 of the membership present and voting at the meeting.

Subscriptions

Member subscriptions are agreed by members at each AGM. Subscriptions are based on the latest available figure for annual turnover – this is used as an indication of the resource and capacity of the organisation. For the financial year 08-09, rates are as follows:

Tier 1: Very small organisation - turnover up to £100,000 per annum.

Tier 1: £200

Tier 2: Small organisation - turnover above £100,000 per annum and up to £250,000 per annum.         

Tier 2: £500

Tier 3: Medium organisation - turnover above £250,000 per annum and up to £1,000,000 per annum.

Tier 3: £750

Tier 4: Large organisations - turnover above £1,000,000 per annum and up to £5,000,000 per annum.

Tier 4: £1100

Tier 5: Very large organisations - turnover above £5,000,000 per annum.

Tier 5: £1750

Subscribers: £200

Supporters: £200
