Scottish Traditional Building Forum (STBF)
Addressing the condition of Scotland’s historic buildings and maintaining our built heritage.
STBF is made up of a network of local traditional building forums with local representation who work together to highlight specific issues relating to traditional buildings and building skills and practices.
BEFS aims to raise the profile of the forum and provide guidance and support for STBF and regional forums on widening partnerships and accessing the Scottish Government and Parliament.
The STBF website is in development currently.

If you’re interested in this topic, you can also watch our film, Heritage & Sustainability: A Journey Down One Historic Street. This is an exploration of how the built environment contributes to environmental, economic, social and cultural sustainability. Produced with partner organisations and launched at Edinburgh Traditional Building Festival 2021, BEFS Policy & Strategy Manager, Hazel Johnson, takes us down Edinburgh’s Royal Mile to discover how our historic buildings can be valuable assets for the future.
BEFS welcomes a grant from Historic Environment Scotland to fund the running and coordination of the Scottish Traditional Building Forum.
