Organisation: Shetland Amenity Trust

Mapping Shetland – Kerry Peterson and Claire Christie

Completion of a two year project to map the visible extent of known sites in Shetland, both in the Historic Environment Record and CANMORE.  The project was a partnership between Shetland Amenity Trust and HES.

The polygons are increasing the number of direct archaeological consultations to the HER from the Planning Authority and the results are also available through Pastmap and the Spatial Hub.

The project also set up a Facebook page with an individual record being the weekly focus as the “Record of the Week”. We have a wide readership which stretches across the world.
