Badenoch Great Place Project
Increasing economic and social wellbeing through the historic environment.
Organisation: | Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) |
Project title: | Badenoch Great Place Project |
In late-summer 2017, the CNPA created a local partnership that aims to drive destination development in the Badenoch area by using the heritage of the region to create economic and social benefits. With support from Voluntary Action Badenoch and Strathspey, and Badenoch Heritage, a series of workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions were organised to develop a project vision and to generate ideas for activities. From this development phase a steering group comprising 9 key partners was formed, and funding sought from NLHF’s ‘Great Place’ scheme. This bid was successful, and a project officer is now in post, and beginning to deliver activities to empower the local community. Over 100 local organisations and individuals have been involved as part of the wider stakeholder group, and the project and its related activities will run for the next three years.
