LGBT History Month
Increasing economic and social wellbeing through the historic environment.
Organisation: | Historic Environment Scotland |
Project title: | Scotland’s Urban Past: LGBT History Month |
LGBT+ communities across the country asked SUP to help them celebrate LGBT History Month 2019.
In Ayrshire, a day of workshops and story sharing invited local LGBT+ people to explore their experiences and to create a timeline of local, personal and LGBT+ history. In Edinburgh an LGBT+ group worked with a local artist to create a community map reflecting both their good and bad experiences of the city.
The project was showcased at Scotland’s Urban Past’s ‘Past Forward’ exhibition at Edinburgh’s Storytelling Centre in August 2019 where a workshop invited non-binary young people to consider their historic environment.
