BEFS is pleased to be holding this event, in partnership with Community Land Scotland and INHERIT, to look at the positive steps that can be taken towards empowering community participation.
Community Land Scotland and INHERIT published their report Community Empowerment and Landscape in September 2018, examining the relationship between communities of place and landscape designations.
Join us to hear from Calum Macleod, Policy Director, Community Land Scotland, and Dr Chris Dalglish, Director, INHERIT, who will introduce the origins and findings of their report. A panel of experienced speakers will then give their perspectives, followed by audience discussion:
The findings of the research have a bearing on natural and historic environment designations in rural and urban Scotland and the report makes recommendations that merit discussion to ensure the success of the community empowerment agenda. The findings also provide a useful discussion in advance of Historic Environment Scotland’s forthcoming consultation on the criteria for historic environment designations in early 2019.
