More than any other city in Scotland, Glasgow is renowned for its traditional tenements which were the main type of dwelling constructed during the period of industrial development towards the end of the 19th century. Through the use of archival photography, historical plans and detailed illustrations John Gilbert will reveal the story behind the different forms that tenements have taken throughout Scottish history, as well as unpicking the methods of construction which have enabled some tenements to stand for more than 400 years.

John Gilbert is a RIAS accredited Conservation Architect with over 40 years’ experience of repairing, improving and maintaining tenements. John holds advanced accreditation in sustainable design and authored the Tenement Handbook.

All GCHT CPD sessions are recognised by the IHBC, and attendees can obtain a CPD certificate upon completion.
