John Lowrey is a senior lecturer in architectural history at Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), part of Edinburgh College of Art within Edinburgh University.  He has specialised in the study of classical architecture in Scotland and in the architectural history of Edinburgh. He has particular interests in the neoclassicism of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and, more widely but of great relevance to Edinburgh, in the relationship between city, architecture and landscape. He has published widely on the New Town, the Greek Revival, Scottish landscape design and on the Scottish Parliament site.

Lectures take place at 6.30pm at St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church, 13 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 2PA. Admission: £5.00 (£2.50 students). Non-members welcome. Members may attend 6 lectures for £25.
