Scotland’s Historic Environment Data (SHED)

Historic Environment data provides a wealth of information for anyone with an interest in Scotland’s historic environment.

shedInformation about Scotland’s historic environment helps inform decisions that are made in the land use planning system. It also provides a wealth of information for anyone with an interest in Scotland’s historic environment.

In 2013 BEFS consulted stakeholders on developing a strategy for co-ordinating access to this data which is held by Historic Environment Scotland and in the Historic Environment Records managed by local authorities. The resulting ‘Scottish Historic Environment Data Strategy’ was then discussed at a workshop in 2015, which involved users of data in developing the Implementation Plan for the Strategy. A key theme was the need to package data more effectively to meet the needs of both existing and potential users. The workshop report is available here.
