Tullich Church & Carved Symbol Stones Collection
A wide range of organisations and individuals care for the historic environment across the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Organisation: | Aberdeenshire Council |
Project title: | Tullich Church and Carved Symbol Stones Collection |
The Tullich Pictish carved stones collection (which form SM 86) required conservation and a new shelter to allow them to be housed back on site with suitable interpretation to tell Tullich’s story. In 2014 the associated 15th century Church wall started to collapse which added to the scope of the project.
This required support from multiple funders but we now have a beautifully consolidated and conserved Church an exceptional bespoke display shelter housing the fully conserved collection of 15 stones and font all fully interpreted, and 2 of the collection on display in Ballater station. The project also uncovered 10 new finds.
